Towards the end of treatment most people ask: what should I do so the complaint does not come back? Beyond reducing pain, the aim of MozgásKlinika is to lead you step by step back to freer movement and then to regular exercise that becomes part of daily life, along the levels of the MozgásPiramis®.
Why is being pain-free not the goal?
The first level of the MozgásPiramis® is treating pain and the current complaint. Four more levels sit above it: range of motion, muscle strength and capacity, functional stability, and finally the return to everyday, work or sporting load. The aim is to rebuild function, movement and load tolerance to the right level.
What does treatment give you for this?
According to the clinic, during treatment the physiotherapist teaches safe movement patterns and then gradually increases the load tolerance of muscles and joints. Regular exercise and manual therapy increase load tolerance, which may lower the chance of earlier symptoms returning. Nothing can be promised, but a body that tolerates more load adapts better to everyday demands.
Where do home exercises fit in?
Home exercises may be part of your treatment plan if your physiotherapist has chosen them, taught them, checks them and changes them when needed. This is why we give no general exercise list: the same symptom can appear alongside different functional problems, and what suits one person may not suit another.
At one of your last sessions it is worth asking your physiotherapist what is recommended for the time after treatment.
How does Medical Fitness help?
Medical Fitness is the bridge between rehabilitation and a long-term active life: a movement programme built by a professional that takes your therapy history and your individual condition into account. It focuses on strength, endurance, stability, coordination, balance and general load tolerance.
What matters in everyday life?
The approach to posture applies here too: staying in the same loading position for a long time and reduced variety of movement can also influence complaints. Varied, regular movement therefore means more than workouts. The article on desk work and posture covers this.
When should you come back?
If the complaint returns, or you are about to take on a new load such as starting a sport, it is worth being examined again. The article on when to see a physiotherapist explains how that decision is made, and the active treatment is described on the physiotherapy page.
